Between theater, dance, installation and site-specific genres: Zero Point for the ninth time!

10/7/2017

The Zero Point international festival is held in Prague for the ninth time this July and it presents local and international theatre ensembles that transcend artistic genres in their work. Like every year, this year's festival will be in the spirit of summer atmosphere, theatre, meetings and stopping by in Divadlo v Celetné on nice summer evenings. Several new places will be added to this traditional location - a 25-hour performance Momentum by the Tantehorse ensemble will take place at the newly-opened Werich's villa and the improvisation of a Spanish performer Lali Ayguadé will take place at the Kampa Museum near the installation called Titans (by Emilie Benes Brzezinski). The Zero Point festival will present its program to visitors between 17th and 23rd July.

"This year's festival again does not stop at the usual and goes beyond its own horizons. We are exploring new locations as well: the place around the Kampa Museum, the Theatre Institute building and we will be glad if they remain part of our program in the future." says Ludmila Vacková, the festival director.

The ninth year of the festival will begin by Portraits in Motion, a performance by a German author and a passionate photographer Volker Gerling that became a sensation at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh. Daniel Abreau, Spanish dance and choreography star is coming back to Prague his project Cabeza that balances on the border between visual theatre, dance and installation. The Nordic art will be represented by the Icelandic hope of the contemporary physical theatre Bára Sigfúsdottir introducing her solo The Lover with very impressive stage design and choreography. Lali Ayguadé will take the spectators from the theater environment to the entrance of the Kampa Museum, where she will plunge into her unique 30-minute improvisation. The program will also include representatives of the Czech art scene - between an exhibition and theatre, Fragments of Love Images by the Spitfire Company, and a 25-hour bútoh performance of two dancers, Miřenka Čechová and Sabine Seume, Momentum by Tantehorse.

Petr Boháč, the festival dramaturgist, adds: "This year, the focus is on the reflection of a time moment, what it means for our hectic everyday lives. Volker Gerling looks at a moment through intimate storytelling using a photographic technique called flipbook, Miřenka Čechová and Sabine Seume in a 25-hour marathon trying to slow down time and look at it as a flow, the Spitfire Company fragment and discovery it as images of love dialogue and, last but not least, Bára Sigfúsdottir exhibits her body in a close relationship of nature, extinction and birth."
