New Europe Festival 2017

The international contemporary dance and dance theatre festival and the choreographic competition of the Jarmila Jeřábková Award take place on 19th – 24th November 2017.

New Europe Festival 2017

Six festival evenings will host the showcase of contemporary dance and dance theatre from the countries the organizers call “new Europe”. These are countries that have recently joined the EU or have been in the process of negotiation.

Selected artists of up to 35 years of age are going to present their works as well as a new choreography inspired by Czech composer Aleš Březina’s music. They will compete for the Jarmila Jeřábková Award based on the assessment of the international jury. The jury is going to select three works, which are going to win the Jarmila Jeřábková Award and staged at the final Gala Evening. The expected number of finalists is 6 – 8 and each of them is going to stage both choreographies.

The organizers of the festival decided to make a small overview on the occasion of the 15th Jarmila Jeřábková Award. There will be a meeting of laureates, jury members and musicians, who actively participated in the special event in 1999 – 2016. The exhibition of photographs and short videos will be part of the event as well.
